CALL FOR THEMATIC DOSSIERS FOR TEMPO JOURNAL – 2021/2022

 

Tempo Journal (ISSN: 1980-542X – QualisA1), a quarterly electronic publication with a public nature, linked to the Department of History and the Post-Graduate Program in History of Universidade Federal Fluminense, hereby invites members of the academic community and researchers to submit proposals for thematic dossiers. Six dossiers will be selected for publication in the forthcoming numbers of the Journal (1,2,3/2021) and (1,2,3/2022).

Dossiers can be proposed by up to two organizers/proponents. Preferentially, one professor linked to a postgraduate program in history accredited by CAPES and another professor/researcher linked to an international institution.

This Call for Papers is governed by the Regulations of Tempo, approved in a Departmental Assembly.

 

 

1)    Dossier proposals should contain the following items:

 

  • Name, title, and institutional affiliation of the organizer(s);
  • Personal telephone for counting;

1.2) Curricular data of the proponents (Lattes Curriculum or CV in the case of foreigners);

1.3) Abstract in English and Portuguese (maximum of 400 words);

1.4) Description of the proposal (up to 1200 words), including the following elements:

- Title (in Portuguese and English)

- Intended focus and objectives;

- Justification of historiographic relevance;

- List of relevant bibliographic references about the theme (no more than 10)

- Optionally, a list of relevant subthemes.

 

2) Assessment criteria 

 

The following will be considered as the assessment criteria:

 

2.1) The originality of the proposal, especially in relation to dossier themes already published in other volumes of the journal;

2.2) Relevance of the proposal to historiographic discussions;

2.3) Clarity and coherence of the proposal in relation to the thematic unity of the Dossier;

2.4) The scope of the proposed theme, in order to permit the regional and international diversity of the articles;

2.5) Relevance to the editorial policy of the Journal;

2.6) Proposals which do not comply with the criteria which govern the norms of publication will be excluded.

 

3) Assessment timetable and stages: 

 

3.1) Proposals should be submitted in a.doc or .docx to Tempo, to the e-mail tempouff2013@gmail.com (Subject: Dossier Proposal – 2021-2022 selection) by 23:59 on 27/03/2020;

3.2) Proposals received by the Editorial Commission of Tempo will be analyzed taking into account the criteria of this Call for Papers. All the approved proposals will be forwarded to the External Dossier Assessment Council;

3.3) The Commission will form an External Dossier Assessment Council (EDAC) consisting of three collaborators from foreign and Brazilian universities. The EDAC will be responsible for scoring and ranking the proposals in accordance with the assessment criteria stated in section 1;

3.4) The Editorial Commission will be responsible for coordinating the work of assessing dossiers and announcing the results by 15 May 2018;

3.5) Proposals not selected or not classified can be presented again for the following call for papers.

 

 

4) Attributes of the organizers of dossiers approved for publication:

 

4.1) Encourage contributions;

4.2) Prepare an in-depth presentation text, capable of problematizing the chosen theme from the historiographic point of view, and also presenting the articles;

4.3) Inform the editors about any unforeseen events related to publication;

4.4) They can participate as co-editors of the section of the articles linked to the dossier, observing the procedures of academic assessment defined by the Editorial Council;

4.5) The submission of articles by coordinators for the dossier is permitted and optional;

4.6) In the case of the impossibility of publication of some of the dossiers approved, the next proposal classified by EDAC will be invited and so forth if necessary.

 

 

5) Editorial policy related to the dossiers:

 

5.1) The originals of the dossiers will be submitted to peer review, obeying the same rules as INDIVIDUAL ARTICLES in accordance to publication rules;

5.2) Five dossiers will be selected for publication in the period 2021-2022;

5.3) The Editorial Commission is responsible for choosing the publication dates for the dossiers within the period;

5.4) The dossier to be published should obtain at least three articles with favorable peer reviews, and can have up to five articles published plus the presentation;

5.5) Members of the Editorial Commission are not allowed to submit proposals for dossiers;

5.6) Omissive cases will be analyzed by the Editorial Commission.
