Rules for papers submission

1. For article submission The texts must be sent only through the Scielo collection online system (http://www.scielo.br/rs), in open Word format or other compatible format. The text may have between 7,000 and 10,000 words, including footnotes and bibliography, which should come at the end of the text. The notes must contain complementary and substantive information and cannot consist of bibliographic references only. The standards for bibliographic references are set out below. The cover page should contain: article title and text summary in Portuguese and English (between 80 and 120 words). In the document sent by the Scielo.com system there cannot be any kind of information that identifies the authorship of the article. The texts will be analyzed first by the journal's editorial committee, which will give a desk review to assess standards of academic quality and adequacy to the journal's scope, objectives and editorial policy / mission. (a) title in Portuguese and English; The interstice for publication in Religião & Sociedade is 24 months between the publication of one article and the submission of another by the same author or co-author. In the case of proposals for translation of articles, it is the responsibility of the author of the translation to request the necessary authorizations, sending them, in time, to the journal for filing. Articles for translation must be from classical or contemporary authors whose relevance in the present time is attested by the wide citation by the scientific community, according to the interest of the editors of the journal. 1.1 Bibliography presentation rules References should be located in the body of the text and the notes. They follow the form (Author Year) or (Author Year: Page), as in the example (Mauss 1960: 32). If there is more than one title by the same author in the same year, they will be distinguished by a letter after the date, as in the example (Mauss 1960a; Mauss 1960b). Bibliography, at the end of the paper, must be in the following format: Book: Author's last name, first name. (date), Title of Work. Place of publication: publisher, issue number if not first. This section is dedicated to the publication of authorial and critical essays that present new contributions in the scientific approach to themes relevant to Religião & Sociedade. Visual productions and reviews of recent works will be accepted, as they result from original research in the area of social sciences, humanities and arts, in connection with the theme of religion in its multiple possibilities of expression and approach. The reviews must present works published in the last five years, whether academic or literary books, ethnographic documentaries and videos, photobooks, exhibitions, and other scientific and cultural productions. It should indicate the connection and contribution of the analyzed work to the most recent debates in the journal. Reviews can give rise to critical discussions about the interpretation of the facts, the methods adopted or the proposed theoretical choices. In order to preserve textual clarity, it is recommended to gather critical comments in a specific part after the summary itself. Reviews containing allusive (unfounded) criticism and personal attacks will be disregarded. Based on the criteria indicated above, the evaluation may have three results: “approved review”, “approved review with modifications” and “rejected review” (no resubmission). The last two results will be communicated with a brief opinion. The author (s) are requested to give a title to the review available in Portuguese and English. The bibliographic reference of the reviewed work should come at the beginning, according to the rules regarding the submission of articles: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, first name. Title of the work. Place of publication: publisher, date, no. if not the first edition, no. of pages. For example, GEERTZ, Clifford. The Interpretation of Cultures. Rio de Janeiro: Guanabara Koogan, 1989, 325pp. Other works cited in the review should have their complete references presented in a note at the end of the text.
The Visual Essays - of photography, ethnographic drawing or visual arts - must result from detailed research and in connection with debates pertinent to the journal's profile. The images (in 300 dpi) will be accompanied by a text and, optionally, by subtitles, presenting the conditions of elaboration of the essay, its poetics and methodology. They must also present title, abstract, and keywords in English. The authors must send a signed statement authorizing the publication of the images and taking responsibility for the right to use them. The declaration must be attached as a "supplementary document" at the time of submission. Reviews and Visual Essays should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words, including bibliographical references and title. They will be evaluated by the Editors of Reviews and the Editorial Board, who may request a specific opinion if deemed appropriate. The Journal adopts CC-BY license used internationally by leading open access journals and publishers, in accordance with SciELO. Such a license maximizes the dissemination of articles. It is understood that every author of an article published in Religião & Sociedade agrees to the use of this type of license. 4. Good scientific practices In line with advances in the field of ethics and good scientific practice, all articles approved in the first stage will be subjected to plagiarism testing and “self-plagiarism” or republishing (publication as unpublished material of texts already published). Any cases of bad practice will be examined and decided by the Editorial Committee The opinions expressed in signed articles and the integrity of the content of the articles are the sole responsibility of their authors. |

Neither will the Journal receive two simultaneous evaluations by the same author, understanding that it configures simultaneity to submit a new article while another has not yet been published or rejected.
The submission of any collaboration automatically implies the full assignment of the copyright to Religion & Society, including translation, if the article is approved for publication. Authors are allowed to reproduce their articles as long as the original source (Relig. Soc.) is cited.
