About the Journal

Religião & Sociedade is a journal published three times a year dedicated to religious subjects in all its relationship with society. It was created in 1977 by the Center for Religion Studies (CER) and the Institute for Religion Studies (ISER), which currently publishes it. It publishes cutting-edge research results, conceptual and methodological reflections, as well as visual essays and reviews of recent works in its theme. Religião & Sociedade is one of the most important journals within the Social Sciences area and since its foundation has been contributing to the exchange of the production of different postgraduate programs and research centers in Brazil and abroad on the theme of religion.
Among its objectives, we highlight:

  1.  Disseminate articles, reviews visual essays and interviews that reconcile academic excellence and scientific accuracy in addressing substantive issues of society.
  2.  Contribute to the interlocution of researchers, postgraduate programs and research centers, ensuring the circulation of ideas, theoretical and methodological perspectives.

Its abbreviated title is Relig. Soc. , which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
