A INFLAÇÃO E OS PLANOS CRUZADO E REAL: UMA INTERPRETAÇÃO INSTITUCIONALISTA

Abstract

O trabalho objetiva apresentar uma interpretação institucionalista da inflação e do resultado dos Planos Cruzado e Real a partir da teoria da regulação e do antigo institucionalismo de Veblen. Com a teoria da regulação observa-se a contribuição das formas institucionais de estrutura para persistência e fim da inflação no Brasil. Do ponto de vista do institucionalismo de Veblen demonstra-se que as formas institucionais contribuíram para consolidar o que se denominou de hábito inflacionário, presente no Brasil ao longo de sua história e que ganhou maior relevância na década de 1980, inviabilizando o Plano Cruzado. Por outro lado, o Plano Real teve sucesso em controlar a inflação porque foi capaz de eliminar o hábito de reajustar preços, sendo beneficiado pela nova configuração das formas institucionais.
