Desindustrialização e Especialização Produtiva no Brasil

Abstract

Há uma grande controvérsia na literatura econômica brasileira a respeito da possível desindustrialização do Brasil e da especialização produtiva em produtos de pouco valor adicionado. Em grande medida a divergência de diagnósticos se devem pelas definições e critérios de análise. O presente estudo irá abordar o tema tanto a partir da definição clássica formulado por Rowthorn e Wells (1987), como por três conceitos alternativos: i) a desindustrialização prematura; ii) a “visão de Cambridge” e iii) a Mudança Estrutural no interior da indústria de transformação. Os resultados das análises realizadas entre 1998 e 2014 demonstram que o Brasil está se desindustrializando, especialmente, segundo os conceitos alternativos.
