Determinantes do trabalho produtivo no Brasil: as normas de gênero e a decisão intrafamiliar
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the determinants and their relative importance of the decision to be economically active, considering men and women from nuclear families, with an emphasis on understanding gender norms. For this, the bivariate Probit model is used to estimate the joint decision of men and women to participate in the labor market, based on the 2018 Continuous PNAD. The findings indicate that the decision of men and women, of nuclear families, to enter the labor market is interdependent, corroborating the choice of the bivariate probability model. Moreover, it appears that the productive attributes favor the work performance of men and women, but the variables related to gender norms, in general, move in the opposite direction.
