Abstract

Poulantzas is an essential author for the understanding of the category Modern State in the Marxist field. Being recognized by the author himself the differences existing between his first theoretical productions and his last work - State, power and socialism. This article seeks to outline some criticisms of Poulantzas' world figuration (ontology), exposed in the work The Social Classes in capitalism today. For that, it explores the possibilities of dialogue between this work and the critical theory of value, taking as reference, in particular, the reading of Marx's theory of value made by Moishe Postone. The focus of criticism is the categories capital, state, social classes and class struggle.

Author Biography

  • Paulo Henrique Furtado Araujo, UFF

    Graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (1988), Master's in Economics from the Federal Fluminense University (UFF) (1994) and doctorate in Social Sciences in Development, Agriculture and Society from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (CPDA / UFRRJ) (2009). He is currently an associate professor at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), professor at the Graduate Program in Economics at UFF (PPGE-UFF). He has experience in the area of ​​Economics, with an emphasis on Political Economy, acting mainly on the following themes: Marxian economy, critical theory of value, ontology of the social being, Marxist economy, crisis and cycle, State, capital and politics. He is a member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Studies and Research on Marx and Marxism (NIEP-UFF). He is the coordinator of the Group of Studies and Research in Critical Ontology (GEPOC-UFF). He is Head of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics at UFF. He was editor of the electronic magazine Marx and the Marxism-Magazine of the NIEP-Marx between 2015 and 2017. He was director of the Brazilian Society of Political Economy (SEP) in the 2014-2016 management.
