Abstract

With the advent of the Covid pandemic, economic activities and especially the labor market have been extremely impacted worldwide, especially in relation to delivery workers and app drivers, who make up the so-called uberized work. The aim of this study is therefore to analyze the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, which began in 2020, on the probability of occupation in the uberized labor market in Brazil, covering the period from the first quarter of 2016 to the second quarter of 2021. To this end, a Probit model was estimated using data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNADC) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), comprising individuals aged 14 to 65. There was a positive and statistically significant influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the probability of being employed in the uberized labor market if this is the individual's main job.
