Inclusive Educational Technology: Redefining Accessibility and Equity in the Classroom
The digital transformation of education has created new opportunities to promote nclusión, accessibility, and equity across diverse educational contexts (Stavroulakis et al., 2025). However, the increasing integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, adaptive learning resources, virtual platforms, and nclu devices also raises significant challenges related to digital divides, social justice, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), educational participation, and the guarantee of the right to quality education for all students (Baldovi & Santos, 2026; Cabero-Almenara et al., 2026). In this context, it is essential to rethink the role of educational technology from an inclusive perspective that not only facilitates nclus to resources but also actively contributes to removing barriers to learning and participation.
The special issue Inclusive Educational Technology: Redefining Accessibility and Equity in the Classroom aims to bring together empirical research, theoretical studies, and innovative practices that critically examine the potential of digital resources to nclus more nclusión, inclusive, and equitable learning environments. It seeks to establish an international nclu for academic reflection on how emerging technologies can enhance educational participation while addressing diverse educational needs, sociocultural characteristics, socioeconomic circumstances, and geographical contexts in which educational communities nclusi.
This proposal is grounded in the premise that educational nclusión represents one of the major challenges facing nclusiónry education systems. In this regard, technologies can serve both as nclu for empowerment and the democratization of learning and as mechanisms that reinforce existing inequalities when their design and implementation fail to consider the diverse needs of learners. Therefore, it is particularly important to examine the pedagogical, technological, organizational, and social conditions that enable progress towards digitally inclusive educational models.
National and international researchers are invited to submit contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Artificial intelligence and inclusive education.
- Digital accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Assistive technologies for students with disabilities.
- Augmented reality, virtual reality, and immersive technologies for educational nclusión.
- Accessible digital educational resources.
- Inclusion and equity in hybrid and distance learning environments.
- Digital divides, technological nclusión, and educational justice.
- Educational technologies for rural, disadvantaged, and at-risk communities.
- Teachers’ digital competence for inclusive education.
- Learning analytics and the early identification of barriers to learning.
- Emerging technologies for addressing learner diversity.
- Critical perspectives on technology, nclusión, and equity.
- Educational policies related to inclusive digital transformation.
- Evaluation of inclusive educational technology programmes and projects.
- Innovative practices in educational nclusión supported by digital technologies across all educational levels.

Thematic Section 2
Title: Current Approaches and Practices in Education and STEM Fields
Abstract
Education systems worldwide are undergoing rapid transformation due to technological developments, scientific progress, and evolving societal needs. These changes require innovative educational approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration among different academic fields. In this context, the proposed thematic section titled “Current Approaches and Practices in Education and STEM Fields” aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform that brings together contemporary research and practices at the intersection of education and STEM disciplines.
This thematic section seeks to explore how innovative pedagogical models, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary instructional designs, and emerging educational practices contribute to improving learning environments and educational outcomes. It also aims to strengthen the connection between theoretical research and practical applications in education.
The section welcomes contributions that examine educational issues from pedagogical, technological, psychological, and social perspectives. By encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, educators, and practitioners, this thematic section intends to contribute to the development of innovative educational practices and to address current challenges in education systems.
Keywords: STEM Education; Educational Innovation; Digital Transformation in Education; Artificial Intelligence in Education; Interdisciplinary Learning.
Proposal Presentation
Contemporary education systems are increasingly influenced by rapid developments in science, technology, digital transformation, and global societal changes. These developments require educational institutions to redesign learning environments and adopt interdisciplinary approaches that foster innovation, creativity, and critical thinking.
The thematic section “Current Approaches and Practices in Education and STEM Fields” aims to create an academic platform where researchers from diverse disciplines can share their work related to modern educational practices, STEM-based learning processes, digital transformation in education, and innovative instructional strategies.
The thematic section particularly focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration between education sciences and STEM-related fields such as science, mathematics, engineering, technology, artificial intelligence, and data science. Studies that explore innovative teaching models, technology-supported learning environments, inclusive STEM education, and data-driven educational practices are especially encouraged.
Furthermore, this thematic section aims to highlight emerging trends in educational research, including artificial intelligence in education, learning analytics, digital learning environments, and innovative assessment approaches. The section also seeks to promote discussions on teacher professional development, interdisciplinary curriculum design, and strategies for improving student learning outcomes.
By bringing together theoretical studies, empirical research, and practical applications, this thematic section intends to strengthen the relationship between educational theory and practice while contributing to the advancement of innovative and multidisciplinary research in education.
Possible contributors may include international researchers working on interdisciplinary education and STEM-related topics.
