Sharing data and research materials related to the submitted work is optional. This includes, but is not limited to, data sets (primary or secondary), collection instruments, codes, and program scripts used in data processing, among others. Scholarly or Academic Papers

REC publishes original and unpublished academic articles in the field of Economics that address topics of national and international scope, especially those that are relevant to the economy of Brazil and Latin America, and make some original contribution from a theoretical or methodological point of view, preferably in the following areas:

  • Economic Thought, Economic History, Economic Method, and Political Economy
  • Macroeconomic Theory, Financial System, Growth Models, and Applications
  • Microeconomic Theory, Industrial Economics, Innovation, International Trade, and Applications
  • Development Economics, Labor Market, Employment and Income Policies, Public Policy, and Welfare

The study of a particular case (being it a country, a region, an industry, a firm, etc) is only of interest to this journal provided that the paper delivers an original and innovative contribution, whether theoretical or methodological, to the literature.

In our understanding, a scholarly work or academic paper reports the results of original academic research or reviews existing research results, whether theoretical or applied. Manuscripts are usually structured as follows: an introduction that describes the research theme, problem, objectives, and goals; a literature review; a methodological section that describes data sources, procedures for data collection, and analytical methods; a section discussing the results; and a conclusion.

An original paper is one that does not contain any form of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

An unpublished scholarly work is a paper that has not been simultaneously submitted for publication to any other journal, nor has it been previously published as a book or a book chapter. A manuscript based upon a working paper, a conference paper, a dissertation or Ph.D. thesis, or previously deposited as a preprint will be considered an unpublished paper, provided that the author(s) declares it in the submission form.

As for the languages accepted, submissions must be written in either Portuguese or English.
